China's 10G Internet Launches With Speeds Near 10,000 Mbps

China’s new 10G network, powered by Huawei and Unicom, was shown with blazing 9,834 Mbps speeds and reduced delays using advanced fibre tech.

China’s 10G internet was officially introduced with peak download speeds reaching 9,834 Mbps. This achievement was made possible using 50G PON, which is an upgraded form of fibre-optic technology. The setup allows much faster downloads and lower delays compared to current broadband networks. These improvements were demonstrated during a live test held in Sunan City, located in Hebei Province.

During the demo, download speeds of 9,834 Mbps and upload speeds of 1,008 Mbps were recorded. A latency of just 3 milliseconds was also achieved, showing significant improvement in performance. The term “10G” in this context was used to highlight the speed of the connection. It is not related to 4G, 5G, or other mobile networks used on smartphones.

The test was carried out by Huawei and China Unicom. As of now, the technology has not been released to the public. Older fibre networks usually reach only 1 Gbps. While 50G PON can carry more data, its full speed potential has not yet been revealed.
