NVIDIA AI Chips to Be Made in the U.S. for the First Time
NVIDIA’s U.S.-based AI chip and supercomputer factories will be built with partners to boost production, jobs, and tech growth nationwide.
Factories to make NVIDIA AI supercomputers are being planned and built in the U.S. for the first time with help from key partners.
Over one million square feet of space has been set aside in Arizona and Texas for testing and building NVIDIA Blackwell chips and AI systems.
Blackwell chip production has begun at TSMC’s Phoenix plant. Supercomputer factories are being built in Houston with Foxconn and in Dallas with Wistron. Mass production is expected to rise over the next 12 to 15 months.
Making AI chips and supercomputers is complex. So, advanced tech is being used for packaging, testing, and assembly. These jobs are being done with Amkor and SPIL in Arizona.
Around $500 billion in AI systems is expected to be produced in the U.S. in four years through work with TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL. These companies are expanding their work with NVIDIA to grow their reach and make the supply chain stronger.
NVIDIA AI supercomputers are being built to run AI-only data centers. These are called AI factories. Dozens of them are expected in the future. Making these systems in the U.S. is expected to bring many jobs and add trillions to the economy.
“AI systems are being made in the U.S. for the first time,” said Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA. “This helps meet growing demand and makes our supply chain strong.”
NVIDIA’s tech — like digital twins and factory robots — will be used to design and run these new factories.
