South Korea Blocks DeepSeek Over Security Risks
๐ Feb 6, 2025

South Korea has blocked employee access to Chinese AI startup DeepSeek over security concerns. The government has urged ministries to be cautious when using AI tools like DeepSeek and ChatGPT at work.
Australia, Taiwan, and Italy have also banned or restricted DeepSeek due to privacy and security risks. The U.S., India, and Europe are reviewing its implications.

South Korean tech firms like Kakao, SK Hynix, and Naver are limiting AI use, especially for services that store data externally. The countryโs privacy watchdog plans to investigate how DeepSeek handles user data.
DeepSeek claims its new AI models rival U.S. competitors at lower costs. But concerns over data security continue to grow.
